Pinwheel Baby Quilt Pattern: Quick Sew Guide for New Quilters

I made this quilt for my brother and sister-in-law when they welcomed a darling baby girl. To match the nursery, I asked for the color palette and received four cheerful hues: aqua, coral, purple, and lime.

I looked for patterned fabrics that coordinated with those colors but didn’t find quite the right prints. Instead I chose solid fabrics and arranged them in a lively pinwheel design—simple, graphic, and playful.

This was my first time making pinwheels and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to piece. The technique is fast and yields a classic look. I’m already planning a larger pinwheel quilt for Dallin.

For the back I found a floral print that matched the front’s palette perfectly—feminine and soft, it complements the bold solids on the front.
