How to Make Perfect Poached Eggs in an Instant Pot

This is honestly my favorite Instant Pot accessory — it makes perfect poached eggs every time (see photos). Poaching in the Instant Pot is much easier than on the stove: the whites set while the yolks stay soft without being overly runny. There are several brands available, but I’ve only tested this one, so I recommend sticking with it.

Instant Pot Poached Eggs

Made with one of my favorite Instant Pot accessories. The eggs come out with set whites and soft yolks — reliable and fuss-free. Highly recommended.

Instructions

  • Place the Instant Pot trivet inside the pot and add 1 cup of water.
  • Lightly spray the silicone insert with non-stick spray. Crack one egg into each cavity and season with salt and pepper. Set the insert on the trivet, then close the Instant Pot.
  • Seal the steam valve and cook on high pressure (manual) for 3 minutes. Some users prefer 5 minutes for a firmer yolk—adjust to your preference.
  • When cooking finishes, perform a quick release. Remove the insert carefully and serve the eggs immediately.

Notes

Note: The silicone insert can absorb odors and flavors. To avoid lingering tastes (like dish soap), clean it with a paste of baking soda and water: scrub with about 1/2 cup baking soda and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
