How To Assemble A Christmas Tree Crudité Platter

The easiest festive appetizer — just a little creativity required.

Step One – Prep the vegetables

  • Wash, dry, and prepare all vegetables so they’re ready to arrange. Drying thoroughly helps them stay crisp.

Step Two – Create the tree shape with green vegetables

  • Use a tree-shaped platter or lay parchment on a large tray. Arrange the green vegetables — broccoli, cucumber slices, and arugula — in a triangular tree shape.
  • Place a few carrots or a thick carrot stick at the base to form the trunk.

Tips For Making Your Crudité Platter Extra Tasty

To elevate the platter, add flavorful extras such as marinated olives, roasted or pickled vegetables, and a variety of dips like beetroot hummus or baba ganoush. Fresh herbs — dill, basil, parsley, or oregano — sprinkled over the tray refresh flavors and presentation.

Arrange complementary items nearby: crackers, breadsticks, cheese, or a small charcuterie board pair well with the veggie tree and give guests more options.

Recipe Swaps and Tips

This is an easy recipe for swapping ingredients. Substitute any vegetables that are safe to eat raw to suit taste or availability. Mix colors and textures to keep the display appealing.

Can you make crudités ahead of time?

Yes. Prepare and dry the vegetables, then store them in airtight containers in the refrigerator. For best appearance and texture, assemble the platter the same day and aim to use the vegetables within 24 hours.
