Blackberry Ginger Sidecar Cocktail Recipe

Scheduling and time management have never been my strengths. My phone reminds me of this constantly. Instead of responding to alarms for upcoming tasks, I often let calendar notifications pile up and swipe away past-due reminders without remorse.

It drives Matt crazy. He is the exact opposite — precise and punctual — and he gladly acts as my backup reminder. Ask him about it and he’ll tell you he is, emphatically, the reminder. Fortunately for me, redemption is rarely more than a meal or a cocktail away. Lately it’s been this drink we’ve been enjoying for the past few days.

This cocktail is a seasonal twist on the classic Sidecar. I swapped lemon juice for muddled blackberries and replaced Cointreau with a ginger liqueur to give the drink a warm, fall-forward profile.

The blackberry-ginger Sidecar has become the featured cocktail on our Thanksgiving menu — a menu I only assembled this morning after realizing Thanksgiving is this week. If Matt hadn’t asked whether the grocery list was ready, I likely would have had another blissfully oblivious day.

Now I’m headed into a few hectic days of food prep, likely swiping reminders away with flour- and sauce-stained fingers as I juggle the last-minute tasks. Still, this simple cocktail feels like the perfect way to pause and savor the season while I race the clock.
