Planning to watch the Kentucky Derby? A bright, refreshing cocktail is the perfect companion. This Raspberry Lemonade Cocktail balances sweet and tart with a fruity raspberry note and a lively fizz from club soda. It’s an easy, elegant drink that quenches a warm-day craving.

The cocktail looks polished but takes only about five minutes to make. Simple garnishes — a paper straw, a lemon slice, or a sprig of mint — instantly elevate the presentation. Paper straws are handy to have on hand for a touch of formality, but fresh mint adds a fragrant finish if you want to dress the drink up a bit more.

For convenience I stir the vodka directly into the lemonade, though you can always serve vodka on the side to keep a kid-friendly pitcher and let adults spike their own glass. Raspberries are my favorite here, but you can substitute blueberries, blackberries, or strawberries. Simply adding berries to the lemonade imparts a subtle fruit flavor; for a stronger taste, muddle the berries or crush a few with your straw as you enjoy the drink.
