Homemade Peach Julius Recipe: Creamy Peach Smoothie Drink

peach julius

Every summer we love visiting our local peach orchard to pick ripe peaches straight from the tree. The best part is sampling as we go—there’s nothing like a sun-warmed peach. We usually bring home several flats and, besides enjoying them fresh or freezing some for desserts, we make a refreshing Peach Julius that has become a seasonal favorite.

I make this often and sometimes get lazy. The original recipe suggests peeling the peaches, but if you have a powerful blender you can skip peeling. The skins blend smoothly and create pretty red flecks in the drink, which I find appealing. If you prefer a silkier texture and have time, peeling the peaches is also fine.

Peach Julius

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe peaches, peeled and cut (or unpeeled if using a strong blender)
  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey, optional (adjust to taste depending on peach sweetness)
  • A couple of handfuls of ice

Method

  1. Place the peaches, milk, orange juice, vanilla, honey (if using), and ice into a blender.
  2. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and frothy, usually 30–60 seconds depending on your blender.
  3. Taste and adjust sweetness or liquid if desired. If the drink is too thick, add a little more milk or orange juice and blend again.
  4. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. This recipe makes enough for two adults and one child, or about three small servings.

This Peach Julius is bright, creamy, and naturally sweet—perfect for hot afternoons or as a quick breakfast treat. Using ripe, juicy peaches yields the best flavor; if peaches are not at peak ripeness, a touch more honey can balance the taste. Enjoy it chilled and fresh for the most vibrant peach flavor.
