Chocolate Dirt Dessert: No-Bake Layered Pudding Parfait

This chocolate “dirt” is an ideal finishing touch for dusting cakes and cupcakes. Made from a single, simple ingredient—chocolate chips—it’s quick and effortless to prepare.

I recently used this chocolate dust to finish the whipped cream frosting on Banana Cream Pie Cupcakes, and it added a lovely texture and rich chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 handful chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Place the chocolate chips into a clean dry grinder or small food processor.
  • Pulse or grind briefly until the chips reach the texture of coarse sand—take care not to over-process into powder.
  • Use immediately to sprinkle over whipped cream, berries, cupcakes, or any dessert that would benefit from a bit of chocolate crunch.
